Last week, PhD Elena Zuriaga, R&D Technician of FACSA participated as coordinator of the REMEB project in the Porto Water Innovation Week, in Porto, Portugal.
The city of bridges became, during those days, the capital of European water and innovation and hosted a thousand of world water professionals.
Porto Water Innovation Week, which was a success, included 3 leading events to address the challenges of the water sector from different perspectives:
EIP Water Conference 2017
The European Innovation Partnerships on Water had a special role in the event. The main conference theme was Water Innovation: Bridging Gaps, Creating Opportunities. It counted on multiple activities such as conferences, sessions, competitions, workshops, B2B matchmaking, business meetings, etc.
On 29 SEP, Mayors & Water Conference 2017 focused on the Urban Agenda for Water 2030. Good practices in water management in European cities were presented, helping municipalities find solutions to their water problems.
Water Innovation Lab (WIL) Europe Porto 2017
Addressed to young people from 18 – 35 years old, the WIL Europe was mainly a learning space to understand water issues at all levels and encourage participants to undertake new initiatives solving current water obstacles through creative activities.
From 27th to 29th September we were providing information about the REMEB project in the EIP Water Conference exhibiting area for EU funding actions. Likewise, on 29th September Elena Zuriaga participated actively in the EIP Water Conference event “Boosting Research &Innovation in the Water Sector: The Impact of EU-funded actions” on:
Improving access to finance and markets for innovations
Facilitating easier procurement of innovation for end users
Developing regulation that is conducive to innovation
Sharing best practice and results from demonstration and test sites
Building European-wide partnerships among stakeholders and contributors
