The promotion of the REMEB project continues in Colombia

Dr Sc Javier Rincón from the Universidad Antonio Nariño, partner of the REMEB project, was in charge of the promotion of the REMEB project in two different events held at Colombian universities this month.

The first one took place the 1st March at Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira. The infoday was focused on the divulgation of the H2020 programme and its potential for financing research and innovation projects as well as forging international relations.

The goal of the event was to stimulate the participation of Colombian research groups in H2020 projects, as it is the case of the REMEB project. There were 120 lecturers from more than 10 universities.

Our partner, Javier Rincón, explained the Universidad Antonio Nariño’s participation process in the REMEB project and his personal experience as a member of the consortium. Taking into account that there are more than 11 partners from 7 different countries involved in the REMEB project, it is an excellent example of international cooperation thanks to the H2020 programme.

The second event, a seminar titled “The emerging contaminants: risks, detection, and solutions”, was held in Bogotá at the Universidad Antonio Nariño during the 21st and 22nd of March. The organizers, “GIBIQS” gathered experts from three different institutions (the Universitat Jaume I, from the Universidad de Antioquia, and from the Universidad Antonio Nariño) to offer high-specialised conferences about the removal of chemicals in wastewater.

The 22nd of March, Javier Rincon had the opportunity to talk about the ceramic MBR developed by REMEB as an eco-friendly alternative for the treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater.

Growing water stress and the poor quality of waters in Colombia has led to enhance the relevance of water treatment systems sector in the last years.  The REMEB project aiming to develop and validate a low-cost membrane bioreactor based on different wastes in order to reuse wastewater would have numerous potential users for its final product in this country. Therefore, the dissemination of the project there is key for its future development.
